Directed by Amy Sweeney

Come one, come all! Aesop’s circus is in town! A stilt-walking crane, a full body puppet lion, the Tortoise, the Hare, and other fun animals from Aesop’s fantastic fables take the stage in this cheerful, interactive production specifically designed for the very young.

Engaging audiences ages 2 and older, this production uses puppetry, circus skills, and original music to present some of Aesop’s most famous fables including:

• The Lion and the Mouse
• The Country Mouse and City Mouse
• The Fox and the Crane
• The Ant and the Grasshopper
• The Tortoise and the Hare

This special afternoon will allow guests with autism spectrum disorder to experience a sensory-friendly performance of The Tortoise, the Hare, & Other Aesop's Fables, as well as a sensory-friendly Create-A-Puppet workshop.

Several alterations will be employed in the theater to create a comfortable setting for guests with ASD, such as a pre-show demo, lights on (but dimmed) inside the theater, consistent sound levels and lower volume of the show soundtrack, freedom for children to talk and to leave their seat if necessary, a quiet zone in the lobby, and permission for guests to bring quiet, contained snacks and beverages to enjoy during the performance.

In the Create-A-Puppet Workshop rooms, there will be less sensory stimulation, and the Teaching Artists present will have been trained on how to best interact with guests with ASD.

Tickets include the sensory-friendly Performance and the Create-A-Puppet Workshop where visitors can make their own friendly Hopping Hare Rod Puppet to take home.

Please note: Museum exhibits are currently closed for expansion/renovation and are scheduled to re-open in Fall 2015
