The Adventures of Mighty Bug
Scorpiana is on the loose and threatening the insect citizens of Bugville! Is our hero Mighty Bug up for the challenge? Find out in this science-filled, comic-book-style adventure!
This special afternoon will allow guests with autism spectrum disorder to experience a sensory-friendly performance of The Adventures of Mighty Bug, as well as a sensory-friendly Create-A-Puppet workshop.
Sensory-friendly programming between 12pm-2:30pm:
- 12pm-1pm: sensory-adjusted Museum exhibits
- 1pm: sensory-adjusted performance
- 1:45pm-2:30pm: sensory-adjusted Create-A-Puppet Workshops
Several alterations will be employed in the theater to create a comfortable setting for guests with ASD, such as a pre-show demo, lights on (but dimmed) inside the theater, consistent sound levels and lower volume of the show soundtrack, freedom for children to talk and to leave their seat if necessary, a quiet zone in the lobby, and permission for guests to bring quiet, contained snacks and beverages to enjoy during the performance. In the Create-A-Puppet Workshop rooms, there will be less sensory stimulation, and the Teaching Artists present will have been trained on how to best interact with guests with ASD.
Tickets include the sensory-friendly Performance and the Create-A-Puppet Workshop where visitors can make their own puppet to take home.
